“It’s time for music fans to stand up and demand change from the music industry’s copyright cartel.” — GreyTuesday.org

I am mirroring the Grey Album. I’m also sharing it using iTunes on Resnet at Lancaster.

El Reg has the story as usual. There’s an insightful article about it on k5 too. It’s currently in the moderation queue, you might have to register to read it. There is a link to my cousin’s music label at the bottom of the article. Isn’t it a small world?

We’ll see if I receive a cease and desist letter from Emi. Downhillbattle received one and published their reply, but my favourite is Adam Brault’s. Brilliant.

I’m sharing the music on the uni’s LAN using MusicPublisher, which crashes from time to time and has some minor bugs but works great otherwise. It gets rid of the five clients limit in iTunes which is partly why I use it – there are six persons listening to it as I type this. (screenshot)

Update:There are some usage stats, a link to this on craigslist ([stereo.lu is a] great (read that fast) download site) and an article in the New York Times. Larry Lessig mentions the Grey Tuesday and is right on every point, as usual.

  1. Merci Guillaume pour le G.r.e.y. A.l.b.u.m., je le cherchais depuis longtemps. Bonne chance pour rester caché d’EMI et l’ASCAP le plus longtemps possible. Salutations du Québec.
